Charming Shabby chic vintage primitive French Food Cupboard - dating from 1930's- This is just so utterly authentic - with original fine metal mesh, large handle on top to hang or lift. It sits raised on 4 integral feet.
The paintwork is pale dusky plaster pink - so perfectly period and true to the age of this piece.
The latch to open and close - works just fine - albeit a little rusty
Used to store foods in kitchen - and known as a 'Garde manger' or 'Fromager' in France - these store cheeses or food at the perfect room temperature -whilst protecting from bugs . they are also useful for keeping Cakes and Pies safe while cooling -
Great item for display in your French Farmhouse Kitchen- great conversation piece- a piece of authentic France.
Primitive piece
In good vintage condition - original wire mesh -there is a small historic repair on the right hand side lower left(all can be seen in the photos - we have shown -all sides of the cupboard) -original hinge plates and fastener- . The paintwork is worn lightly in places - but original and part of the charm. There is no internal shelf but if required this would be easy for the buyer to install.
