This is a most fine example of a French antique art nouveau bronze and brass coat hook/shelf rack. Exceptionally detailed design and in superb antique condition with all original fittings. 3 large bronze coat/hat hooks & 2 smaller hooks all are movable and slide along square brass heavy bar. Above is a substantial shelf all held together at each end with engraved and intricate brackets.
Some similar racks are often quite utilitarian in design and originate from train carriages or bistros- this has fine detail in the casting and the hand hammered finish that suggests it was more likely designed for a private home.
Perfect for the boot room, laundry room, bathroom - or in the entrance hall. - A real statement piece, a one of a kind unique antique from past times.
Condition Good antique condition, this was black when we found it and we have sympathetically cleaned. All original finials present and no damage. some light pitting and scuffs to the bars as one would expect on a piece of this age.
