This is a most beautiful French time capsule- A 1920's art deco box complete with silk wedding veil and hand painted religious souvenir of the occasion.
Sooo rare - this has been treasured for over a century - The box and veil are from the Lyon based lace makers Dynamo - On the box front is an image by a Paris photographer of the 1920's bride. These boxes so rarely survive - by nature of their composition - they are so often discarded or destroyed. The silk veil has sadly not survived - it has holes and is very fragile- still wrapped in the original blue tissue paper. The hand painted religious souvenir of the day, which has been hand stitched over a piece of card to preserve it is intact if a little marked. A religious symbol for Jesus Christ -JHS (or IHS) is a Latin acronym for Jesus Hominum Salvator – Jesus Savior of Mankind.
Condition - Good antique condition -the box corners of the lid - have disengaged at one corner- otherwise the box whilst lightly timeworn is in good condition. The veil has suffered with time, the tissue paper is intact and the religious monogram whilst lightly marked is good.
