René Frugier, engineer, got his factory in 1896 (acquired by Haviland in 1958). He is the creator of the Aluminite a porcelain richer fire clay material than conventional porcelain, and baked at a little higher temperature. Therefore, the Aluminite is much more heat resistant than the ceramic of the same kind that existed before, and withstands more than 300 ° of temperature . The glaze itself is designed so that it's expansion to follow that of the porcelain. It covers all objects, which had never been done before. originally produced in 1900 the decorated ceramics enabled food to be served directly from the oven to the table .
