Pair of French antique domed DOLLS steamer trunk chests /trousseau chests- untouched and as found.
These have spent their lives together - One slightly larger than the other. They are both constructed from wood & covered in a coated red canvas - with light timber battens and domed tops.
The larger has a small printed paper lining and the inset tray is missing. The smaller trunk has an inset tray which still has evidence of the initial patterned paper covering , although it is somewhat distressed.
These are just charming and incredibly hard to find - these would be for the children of wealthy families and many would not survive the ravages of time. These date from circa 1880.
NB These are priced as a pair - and we do not wish to split.

Smaller trunk Good antique condition. Missing front lock tab and key.Some of black strapping missing at sides. Inner tray present. Some lining paper present - but some loss - see photos. Wonderful craque lure finish to red treated canvas - see photos.
