Jacques-Antoine Dulaure (1755–1835), historian, archaeologist and politician. They trace the development of the French capital from its Gallic origins up to the 19th century. The work is distinguished by its critical analysis of the institutions, customs, topography and monuments of Paris. His works almost all relate to Paris, France and the Revolution. The most important of them is his Civil, Physical and Moral History of Paris where his resentment towards the monarchy is still expressed. The book was released in 1821,-(these are from the first print)
All the individual gravures still have the original protection tissue leaves . Each of the volumes contains a pull out map of 1821 Paris.
The book is abundantly illustrated by numerous engravings on steel representing the main buildings of Paris and an evocation of the Parisian costumes during the different periods.
Perfect for the collector photo styling or interiors
Please note these are antique books & each already have a personal history of several years so they show some signs of use ( folds , or spots). This is the appeal and pleasure of old books.
The paper covers are damaged as see in the photos - but all pages are present and no damage to pages - tears etc.
