This oil painting on board , signed lower right Durand Populas, French school is in it's original painted wooden frame and is created with a confident brushstroke combined with an impasto style in areas, you can feel the mistral breeze and the fine cooling spray of the ocean.
We believe this painting to be circa 1940's
The frame is heavy and painted wood as is the wooden mount. (it is Period and original to the painting) -
Condition - Good vintage condition -painting untouched exactly as found - No missing paint or damage - Frame solid wood -the frame shows light wear in places -but nothing of any consequence all commensurate with age and typical of this style of frame. There is rub to the wooden mount visible in the photos - this could be corrected by the buyer if preferred - we have left as found.
