Antique French rare Almanach dédié aux dames /Almanach for the ladies- this is the sweetest of books - printed in 1823 by Edition Lefuel Paris - in decorated cardboard case and we will also include the linen pouch we found this in.

Early French book dedicated for well educated ladies and their entertainment - I think it is absolutely adorable & in fine condition considering this book is 200+ years old!

Original edition with title vignette, 6 non-text engravings, each still complete with protective tissue & 12 vignettes for the souvenir calendar. Engravings Boos, Schalken, Dujardin, Mieris & Vovermens & 14 pages of notated music .

Gilded cardboard case - plates and back decorated with silk painted in colours representing dancing figures surrounded by friezes. Floral patterns on back and golden edged leafs.

Condition- Rarely is this book seen in such fine condition- the cardboard outer cover does show signs of fading and rub, but the book has clearly been well protected from light, and the decoration on the bindings of the book are bright and sharp. It is our belief it has been rarely and infrequently opened. the spine and pages are tight and secure There is a little foxing on the pages in places but no tears, loose or damage to the pages. the fine silk bookmark attached to the back cover has partially come away.

This is a precious and unique piece of French history - which we believe would make a most beautiful gift for a book lover.
