Beautiful antique French Provencal Gargoulette Stoneware jug- This is a particularly fine example and dates from the early 1900's(possibly earlier). These are used for storing water or oils.
This is not only very tactile but also very aesthetically pleasing to the eye - It has a pouring spout, Top handle and side handle - also a perfect fitting original lid (so often missing)
It is made from stoneware, these were hand thrown on a wheel by local artisans - and has beautiful curved contours and has moulded and shaped handles -easy to work into any colour scheme with it's neutral stone colour - these were an item made to be used daily and therefore took knocks and bumps. It is unusual to find one in such fine condition.
This is fully glazed internally-
Perfect in the home or in the garden - look after it and it will last for another 100+ years. - Use for storage - a brilliant large Vase for flowers or simply as a beautiful item to admire in your home.
