I do not use this term lightly but this is possibly the most gorgeous ironstone lamp base we have ever come across- French dating from around 1860-70 it started life as an oil lamp, most likely manufactured by Paris Porcelain or Sarreguemines. It has been converted at a later date to electric (and we have had rewired to current standards with silk covered twisted period cable) 

Transfer printed design of garlands of roses, with 4 Cherubs /Putti dancing around the lamp, As if that charming decoration were not enough there are also butterflies, bees and dragonflies adorning the lightly tea stained base. The top and base are a gold metal with beading decoration around the base and the top. This item is totally precious and enchanting.

Condition - Excellent antique condition no chips, cracks, Fine lines of crazing and lightly tea stained overall - there is an absence of colour in one tiny area visible on photos. There is a little discolouration to the metal on the lower edge again visible in the photos.

The cable/wiring has an on/off with mid cable and has a French plug fitted. Fully working lamp.
