Absolute jewel of a quilt.
Two different period weaves on either side of this characterful French quilt- circa 1840-50's- early. Superb antique textile examples- arborescent in design with Indienne influence. The quilt is all hand stitched with embroidery silk and is filled with teased and combed sheep wool.

This quilt has seen life ! and has been a treasured source of warmth that has warranted repairs and stitchings to ensure it continues to offer a source of heat. One of the top edges has been rolled and stitched to preserve. but all this aside it is in our opinion a precious and very early textile treasure possibly almost 200 years old !
This came from the finest French home, stored away in the attic for many years and is a glorious example of a time gone by.
