Unique French antique chandelier - constructed in bronze with 3 decorative scrolling arms supporting three bulbs, each bulb sits in a ceramic cup, decorated with leaves and flowers with a tin barbotine glaze.the bulb fittings are covered with the original gesso and wood drip covers, and each of the 3 lights is covered with a shapely glass shade decorated with a floral design.The central pillar is decorated by a decorative sleeve of faience in the same style as the cups. Rarely, and we have never seen before - the chandelier is decorated with 6/ six bronze figures of Marianne -the National symbol of the French Republic - The female figure is an important republican symbol and an icon of freedom and democracy. Her values are incorporated into her motto: "Freedom, Equality, Fraternity". It is an important republican symbol and an icon of freedom and democracy. She is often depicted wearing a Phrygian cap which is included in the figures on the chandelier. The chandelier is fully working as can be seen and has been re wired. It is a 3 candle bulb chandelier - and takes small edison screw European E14 bulbs  US and Canadian buyers can find bulb adapters on line to use their E12 bulbs with these E14 fittings. search 'E14 to E12 adapter' You will require 4 adapters, they cost approx 2-4 USD each. The adapters screw into place allowing you to then insert your E12 bulbs which will then work normally on 110v.  Alternatively E14 bulbs are readily available to USA and Canadian customers through online US based lighting suppliers.
