This is a little French jewel ... we think it just adorable and totally precious...

Framed "miniaturist" 18th century sketch in inks on parchment of a gentleman dressed in Louis XV attire - complete with hat. The sketch is signed and dated - The signature in ink is A. Gaillard or Grillard. the date above is difficult to read but appears to be Janvier (January) 1795. It is in the most exquisite original, heavy wood and gesso frame - very deep and with 3 dimensional sculpted laurel leaves & berries. 

This appears to be the original frame and is of substantial quality- this was obviously a special and treasured sketch. It is under glass (early thick glass )

Condition - Good antique condition -sketch on parchment paper with foxing and light marking - age related- Frame solid no restoration on front surface - there are some fine lines of gesso missing at the sides of the frame- commensurate with age and typical of this style of frame. Expected small areas of rub to the gilding of the frame. The back is absolutely true with original backing paper -
