This is most amazing and beautiful French antique quilt or boutis - it has been specialist cleaned (label still attached) so is ready for immediate use.
This came from the finest of French homes and had been sealed and stored for the last 70 years - It dates, and was created by hand - in the late 1920's - it is one of the largest quality quilts we have come across - It is so rare we come across a quilt of this age in such fine condition.

Pretty floral linen/cotton mix on the face (very similar to many Liberty prints) against a neutral light calico ground- the reverse is in a luxurious and rich rose pink heavy silk satin, it has a lustrous sheen and finish. It has wool wadding inner.
It has the most amazing hand stitched (with embroidered silk) sun burst design radiating from the base of the quilt which is uniquely curved.
Two widths of fabric are machine seamed along the centre to create the width.
Condition- There are no holes, damage or patching - there is no missing or loose stitching. There are a couple of areas where there is a tiny faded stain (both on the lining side) - there is minimal shading to the fabric. Fabrics are strong and stable- no weak areas.
