Just a delightful antique French Market basket - This basket was made in France and dates from approx 1870s- 1900 - It has the original metal & leather work - - It has double woven wicker handles and a lid which is 'hinged' at the back.
These baskets are called "Bressans" which in the french countryside was once used for the market and intended for the transport of poultry, fruit, eggs etc.
Condition - Good antique condition- The basket is strong and all fittings are intact - leather a little dry - There are a few insignificant breaks to the wicker - but overall this basket is in good condition for the age- the base is solid and without holes. The handles are in superb condition.
Perfect size for Display - and just a great decorating item - becoming increasingly difficult to find . Hang in your kitchen or Hall
