Rare and early tea stained Terre de fer /ironstone pink/red transfer ware charming French compote stand - Hippolyte & Boulenger impressed early mark- early 19th century - this factory later became the Choisy le Roi factory. The Choisy-le-Roi factory, founded by the Paillart brothers in 1804, was directed from 1836 by Hippolyte Hautin in association with Louis Boulenger. In 1863, it was acquired by the latter's son, Hippolyte and took the name of "H. Boulenger et Cie" in 1878. Installation of the head office in Paris at 18, rue de Paradis in 1889. On the death of Hippolyte in 1892, Paul-Hippolyte and Alexandre Boulenger succeeded him. In 1920, purchase of the Montereau factory, depositary of the Creil-Montereau brand. Choisy's workshops closed in 1934 and those of Montereau in 1955. The colourings are beautiful - from faded pinks through to deep claret. The compote stand shows bucolic scenes from the countryside, Cows, Geese, A Windmill and birds. Condition - Good antique - No cracks, It does have an old chip on the underside (visible in photos) - attractive tea staining and aged crazing -  Please do check out the photos and enlarge they are an important and integral part of the description.
