This is a superb large religious wall crucifix from the 19th century (circa 1870). Jesus Christ is made of meerschaum and rests on a gold painted wooden cross. It is surrounded by a gold wooden frame with an ornate design in high relief with a convex glass. Ruby red faded velvet on the background.
On the reverse is the original shop label - Candido Negri 26 Place Saint George. Sainte Germaine. Toulouse - Framers and seller of religious artefacts.

Condition - This is an early example and as such shows signs of wear and is time worn ie. There are fissures and historic paint retouches- but the whole item is completely solid and stable and we adore the aged appearance - which makes this so very unique.
