Magnificent early- to mid 1800's genuine antique Aubusson tapisserie pelmet. original label attached with pattern number , signature initials and Aubusson ID. (see photos)

Woven in wools and silks and in the signature muted vegetable dye colours of Aubusson- with bouquets of roses & gardenias along a French grey blue ground.

This was a pelmet and could be re -used as the same, with additional border fabric or used as is, lined, or on a wooden board. the edges have been turned and hand stitched . Alternatively it could be incorporated into a piece of upholstery or pillows.

Genuine Aubusson- forever elegant and exuding timeless style. Rare to find in such good condition.

Condition- Good antique condition- no holes or damage - tiny area of fray on one edge, where folded over on hem. There is obviously some fade when comparing the reverse threads and the face of the textile- but this is not excessive for the age. Clearly one end has been turned (too long perhaps for the pelmet?) and there is a difference in the shade tone - due to the fact it has been hidden from light (15cms/6") only on one end.

The measurements are length 305cms /120" - width 17.5cms /6.75" (plus turnings)
weighs 0.5 kilos
