These are the finest pair of gilded bronze Louis XVI sconces we have found- they have never been to the market before - they are an absolutely delicious and exciting find. They date from circa 1870- 1880, from the very initial introduction of electricity into Paris. They stand at an angle from the wall and each carries a trailing ribbon tied in a bow against the wall , these have been created by the finest, skilled Parisian artisans- the bronze castings are finely detailed and each carry the foundry stamp/impression on the reverse. They are exceptionally heavy and they have been crafted by hand, (They weigh 2.2 kilos unpacked combined - that's nearly 5lbs!)

They each carry beautiful Vianne Glass shades in a delicate shade of pink. They would be the prettiest and most elegant addition to any room - I think they would look delightful at each side of a period bed but I am sure there are many places within a home that they would be just perfect and much admired.

They are fully working and fully compliant with French electrical standards. (new wiring)

They attach to the wall by two screw holes at the reverse of each.
The bulb holders take 2 standard bayonet style bulbs.

Condition- Superb antique condition - Both have a natural aged antique patina - we have not over cleaned or touched the original gilding - therefore it has a natural patina and true to the original.
